My grandmother taught me the basic embroidery stitches when I was about 10 years old. As soon as I learned to make my own clothes, I began to personalize things with embroidery. I found out about cross stitch while I was in college and things just moved forward from there. I began to modify designs, then to create my own designs. Then people started asking where they could get the designs I was stitching...so Needlemade Designs was born!
I have a B.S. degree in Chemistry and a Masters in Business Administration. It's been a long strange ride.
My favorite needlework uses threads and fabric to create color and texture. I love using specialty stitches and it makes my heart happy to see the Ah-ha! look on people's faces when I teach them to master new stitches.
Inspiration comes from everywhere! Antique needlework pieces naturally, but I once found inspiration from a little sour cream container that came with my baked potato at an airport restaurant. You just have to be open to ideas.
